Breakup under a Bridge| A Poem
It was never meant to be
He looked down at her
His eyes fixed into hers
With tears freely flowing down
This was one hell of a sight
Seeing a man cry
Rendered her weak inside
But this wasn’t going to stop her
She had to keep going
But,
Every word she spoke, tore her
Every teardrop ripped her open
Harsh words that stung
Mercilessly throw at his face
With no sugar-coated message
Bearing lies and truth
Holding broken dreams and hope
She looked up and held back tears
Words ceased coming out
This was hard she could tell
Not only for her but for him too
Unbearable was the pain both felt
In some way, this had to stop
Silence…
Tension…
This made him think clearly
If words can hit so hard like this
Why not walk away
Walk away fast
Probably run
Run fast enough
And never look back.
