Non-Stop Gratifeels

A Collection of My (Almost) Daily Gratitude Posts

One of the books I read over the summer suggested keeping a daily gratitude journal. The author recommended writing down five things you’re grateful for every night. Is that even possible?

I took this picture in Alcossebre, Spain!

5 Per Day seems Impossible!

As happy and optimistic as I am, coming up with five things to be grateful for per day, every day seemed impossible. Unless you keep using the same ones over and over again.

Won’t you get tired of being grateful for the same things every day?

After a while are you thinking, “Wow! I’ve only got 27.”

How About One Per Day?

So I thought I’d try one per day.

But I wouldn’t just write I’m thankful for oxygen.

I’d come up with reasons why I was grateful for oxygen. I’d dig deep. Sorta deep. As deep as you can dig into 5 to 7 different topics each week in addition to everything else.

What Should I Call Them?

Until I settle on one name, I’ll switch between:

  • Gratifeels
  • Gratitudinals

As long as it has Grat and a bold, red line underneath it, I’ll go with it.

  • Gratitism
  • Gratiosity
  • Graterrific

My First Gratitude Post

Hasn’t been posted yet. I wrote the 1st of many posts back in July, about six months ago. I had a good reason to not post the first one first, but I can’t remember what it was.

I didn’t post it immediately because I knew I wanted to finish a few other projects before I started this one.

Don’t follow my lead. Don’t delay gratitude.

Somewhere around Gratitude Story number 30 or so, I’ll publish the first one.

When I finally post it, you’re never going to believe that it was the first one I wrote. It doesn’t make any more sense as a first gratitude post than gratitude for chickens as an 11th gratitude post.

Finally, about two months ago, I wrote my second first gratitude story. I didn’t have a sequence planned, no high-reaching, well-planned funnel into a grandly designed finale.

I just started. I simply acted. The first thing that came to mind was audiobooks.

Gratitude for Vacation

Then we went to New York City for a few days. I’ve thought about trying to post with my app during days when I’m away. Even took lots of pictures this summer, so I’d have images available. I did not decide to post via mobile this weekend.

It Must Be Just Like Starting Over

I’m also trickling out the stories from my Summer in Spain Saga. I’m not currently posting gratitude posts on the days I post other stories. I may eventually decide to post more than once per day. For now, I’m skipping gratitude posts on days I post other stories.

Practice Makes Prolific

That’s Why I’m Grateful for It

I had a couple really busy days with some family activities, no gratitude stories for a few days.

Gratitude for my 1st Podcast.

I skipped a few days for the Nutcracker shows, then published a story about gratitude for those shows.

Then I fell off the face of the earth for a few days before finally posting…

Gratitude Story 20, December 14

It is really tough staying consistent. I’m so susceptible to distractions, but I get a lot of inspiration from where distractions take me. I might as well be grateful for that.

Gratitude Story 21, December 19

First of all, where did those five days go? The days between 12/14 and 12/15. Don’t ask me.

I can’t recall the exact time when I realized I was grateful for adversity. I guess I secretly have been for a few years now, but I just didn’t realize it until recently. I was too busy noting the idea in Evernote to note when I had the idea.

Either way, here it is. It is my first story published by the publication Change Your Mind Change Your Life. Please enjoy.

Gratitude Story 22, January 7

Starting anything new can be scary, so it’s nice when a start starts well.

Gratitude Story 23, January 13

I’m a pretty healthy human. I often wonder why. I live right alongside some people who don’t enjoy good health. I’ve always assumed it was the care I take, but I wonder if gratitude deserves part of the credit.

Gratitude Story 24, January 15

Have you ever tried a gratitude journal or gratitude meditation? Did you decide to write down five things you are grateful for? Ever day? How many days did it last?

Gratitude Story 25, January 16

Other than the lighter traffic, this morning’s drive to work was typical. At first.

Gratitude Story 26, January 19

I’m a non-smoker. I think smoking is stupid. Still, I’m grateful to live in a country where humans can decide for themselves how they want to live.
