I Miss My Android
- Because the iPhone’s keyboard does not compare. No swype for one handed subway rides. Aggressive autocorrect that overrides me with typos it prefers to remember. Its lack of support for Hebrew dictation. Curse words are now people on my contact list because that’s the only way I can get around the profanity filter as a 35 year old.
- Because Siri is just not as smart as a smart phone should be. She pulls results from Bing, doesn’t utilize anything similar to Google’s awesome Google Now cards, and has harder time understanding my accent.
- Because I use Gmail (and Inbox) for everything and the iPhone׳s mail app sucks, but it’s still the only one I can use as default.
- Because I use Google Docs for professional and personal needs, and the iPhone version for that is not as good.
- Because I miss Google Keep.
- Because I miss whining on Google Plus, the “dead” community.
- Because Hangouts was always my app of choice to communicate with everyone, and it covered everything. iMessage does not handle G-chat well, does not make free phone calls, and doesn’t work well with my Google voice number.
- Because even though I generally gave up on heavily customizing every aspect of my rooted phone, I still miss some handy features I had on the android, including clever widgets that did not require several taps from the home screen just to check the weather.
- Because my phone used to have a personality, not just a different skin.
I think I decided I’m getting rid of my iPhone. The one good thing about this phone is that so expensive (even though I could get an Android 2/3 the price that outperforms the iPhone in almost every aspect) I could sell my used one to get a real good Android replacement.
