I am SOOOO damn sick of the twisted cult of Elon Musk (and the respective cults of any other depraved plutocrats, especially those associated with the tech industry) that I’ve long been wanting to write something about it. But anything I’d have tried to write would not have come out nearly as good as this, I’m sure. Thanks!

Techno-utopianism remains what it always has been: an infantile obsession, a comic book-like form of escapism, and a somewhat pathetic distraction from the issues that really matter. [As you observed, there ain’t no nice little techno-fix or “app” for systemic problems.] Techno-utopianism — together with its partner in crime, neoliberal capitalism with its stubborn insistence that every single human (or biological, or global) situation, issue, and problem must be rammed into the pathetic, procrustean bed of “the market” and the privatization of everything — successfully obstructed most meaningful attention to the one big question that really, really mattered — global warming — for forty years. What do they give us now, instead? Creepy billionaires in space.

Jeez Loueez . . . .
