When I die

When I die

This body wrecked

Mind detached

Or still clung firm

Let me writhe, dear friends

Let me swear and sweat

Let my final drop of poisoned blood

Crawl through battered weakened veins

Make bitter path to fading heart

Let it spark and shudder and cause me pain

Let me have this last embrace

Let me draw this moment till it’s taut

Let it last, dear love

Let me hurt, one last time

Let me fight against approaching night

’Til, every ounce of will is shed

Until, with a final breath,

Let my pain depart

A joyful, fearful, suffering love

Bound in fading, dying, broken heart.
