Seems like the law was unclear and so the Senators asked the activities of Americans United to be looked into. They were and the response clarified that the sort of misinformation campaign they were engaged in didn’t violate the law. That appears to be the end of it.

What am I missing that makes this a big problem for Sessions? If legislators have concerns about perceived voter intimidation should they not have it looked into? Did they violate any law or legal tradition by asking for the AG to look into the matter? Once it was resolved did they pursue further legal action against Americans United?

Thanks for the article by the way- it was interesting to learn about this issue even if I am less concerned by it than you are.
