“Religionization” (as the term goes around here), is present in Israel as well, driven into the educational system and elsewhere. While I agree our kids face a grim future where scientific advancement is praised by the very few and individuals as well as state legislation are driven by standards we thought are long abandoned, can we think of a way we can still get fruitful insights from the Bible (and the plethora of other scriptures)? I prefer a future where our youngsters get perhaps the single most powerful and versatile skill: to be exposed to a new domain of field of knowledge, while independently distinguishing the good from the bad. Instead of barring, let’s face this supposedly “clash of civilizations” open-headedly.
