Coriolanus
Movie Review.
Coriolanus is a Shakespeare play adapted to modern times with guns and cars around but keeping the dialogue and diction honest to the play, even using “Thy” all the time. I love this genre of movies — my favorite being Josh Whedon’s Much Ado About Nothing.
I found the movies plot to be very interesting. The main character of Coriolanus, a strong Roman general who does only what he believes in, was very well portrayed by Ralph Fiennes. I was very glad to be introduced to this Shakespearean play which other wise I would not have watched.
But, I feel the play was not a great choice to be made into a movie. It had too many scenes which were just a barrage of dialogues without much detail to camerawork or sets. It was more like looking at a recorded play — which I liked, but this does not make it a great movie.
I still enjoyed watching the movie, I found it much more interesting than most hollywood action flicks.
