Hi Bella, just came upon your post, and I wish I had more students like you when I was teaching. I know exactly what you mean, the way school is now, it takes the joy out of learning. Often my students and I had fun working on projects like natural disasters that involved all aspects of learning: language arts, research, math, art, science (talking about 5th grade here). Then testing would rear its head, and we had to stop everything and “review” for the test. I’d see the lights in my students’ eyes go out. Some would refuse to come to school. It’s wrong.

Thank you for sharing your view. We need your voice. You are a wonderful writer who communicates well. You should know that while some teachers might be thoughtless, many are beaten by the system too and hate what they are forced to do. Don’t let the system stress you out. Keep that love of learning and don’t lose heart. It is more an indicator of success than the college you attend.
