Today on the podcast we went over the differences between doggy daycare and dog parks. We address the pros and cons of each and the cost of time versus money.
Below are some bullet points from the podcast:
- Dog Parks cost you time Vs. Doggy Daycare costs money.
- Dog parks are owner supervised Vs. doggy daycare is supervised by professionals.
- Dog parks allow anyone to bring any dog in less the community says otherwise vs. doggy daycare’s have higher standards, or it least should have higher standards, and may limit certain temperaments and breeds from using their services.
- Dog parks typically don’t have someone checking to make sure that all the dogs are disease free and fully vaccinated vs. doggy daycare’s require certain vaccinations to stay completely up-to-date. This could include the kennel cough vaccine (bordatella), rabies, distemper her and some require flu vaccines for dogs.
- Typically dog parks are more exposed to diseases such as Giardia, distemper, and other shared sicknesses such as kennel cough, and the flu. Daycare is typically clean their facilities on a regular basis to prevent exposure to these diseases.
