You’re right in part: it’s not that I don’t like the decision, it’s that I think there are some…

Hi Mike,

At the end of the day, we make our choices for reasons that make sense to us based on the experiences we’ve had. My experiences — including security concerns and rabbit holes of updates that did not go well for my team — combined with what I thought were overly expensive managed hosting solutions meant this made little sense for us.

I can understand your experiences are different and if you have 60 sites running on it and a clear knowledge level, there is sizable infrastructure investment that, also, has to be factored in. We had the chance to fully start fresh and we felt there were better and more modern solutions out there, for us.

In the end, only time will tell. I could be writing a story in just a year or two talking about why this decision didn’t pan out, but at least you’ll know I’ll write that with great honesty if I end up having to do so. In the meantime, here we are and I believe, given everything I know, that this decision was the right one for us.

I will also say, it’s been nice having this conversation with you after all these years…
