Thanks, Niels. That more similar/more surprising slider has been a beast that we are still not done with yet. I’m hoping that Micah Walter will have some time to write about implementing that because it’s been one of the most challenging yet rewarding parts of the site. In the next couple of posts I will talk about the design decisions we made related to some of your other questions about tag searching plus visual elements — we created two distinct user paths…one for the more casual browsers (visual search and browsing) and one for scholars/researchers (searching). We felt they needed to remain separate for greater clarity and I think that was the right decision given the complexity we’ve seen with the multi-choice formal element selection described here. More on this soon. It will either be the next post or the one right after.
