certainly an option for those who want to go that route and compile their own build of node. probably a solid option for single-use environments (like a personal system) but would present some challenges for a distributed or large team. I haven’t explored if tools like NVM can pull from custom sources, but if they could be configured to do so, that would solve some problems. in the distributed or large team environment I’d wager that simply using flags would be more effective for the time invested. but even then, it’s somewhat rare that distributed/large teams would be using these flags.
