In an effort toward a realistic minimum wage, leaders propose tying base pay to the cost of living in a given region.

Opponents claim this will thwart free market controls. They believe it will artificially inflate pay scales and threaten jobs, primarily entry-level positions. Economists churn out propaganda based on fear of rising prices and rampant inflation.
