Windows computers in 2020 come with S mode enabled out of the box. S mode is a sort of safety feature that allows the use of Windows apps. It prevents the user from downloading apps that are not approved or in the Microsoft ecosystem. However, this safety net may feel like a butterfly net because users cannot access some of the apps they may have purchased the device for. In addition, some apps like Chrome although Windows competitors have a wider array of app extensions that make getting work done easier. Windows is claiming protection but some purchases come with Norton or Mcafee accounts for virus protection.
