Evil eye

The evil eye meaning is a look of adorn generating from a person that he/she feels for another. The condition of the victim may reveal as sickness, loss of wealth or family, or a streak of general bad luck.

How to protect us from evil eye?

To Praise another person

If we see something that we love or enjoy in a person or in ourselves, it is mentioned for us to say ‘maasha’a Allah, ‘Allahumma barik’, ‘tabarakAllah’ to protect us against the evil eye.

Surah Falaq, & Nas

Falaq and Nas these two duas along with Suratul Ikhlas (Qur’an 112) are our best ammunitions against the evil eye and any evil that can happen to a person.

Other duas

Our Prophet (PBUH) said, the greatest means of protection against the evil eye lies in the recitation of Surah al-Fatiha, Ayat ul-Kursi, and Surah Baqarah too.

Dua of Ibraheem (AS)

The dua that Prophet Ibraheem (as) used to pray for his sons, and also our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)) used to make for his grandchildren, Hassan and Hussein, is mentioned for us to use as evil eye protection.

“‘I ask protection for you both in the perfect words of Allah, from every devil and every poisonous reptile, and from all evil eye”. [Sunan Ibn Majah]

Dua of Jibril (AS)

Angel Jibril (as) prayed this dua on Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) when he was ill. This shows that this prayer might work as a healing process for the evil eye.

Can evil eye harm?

The evil eye can’t touch our lives without the Qadr of Allah behind it. We should always believe that Allah the Almighty alone can relieve our pain, and we must ask protection only from Him.

The different types of Evil Eye

Ayn

Our prophet mentioned, ‘The evil eye is true and if anything were to overtake Qadr, it would have been the evil eye’. This means that if anything was to overtake the decree of Allah it would have been the evil eye.

Hasad

Iblees was jealous of Adam (AS) and he thought he was better as he was made from fire. So, it was envy which pushed iblees to transgress and disobey the order of Allah (SWT).

Nafs

Prophet (PBUH) said, ‘Those among you sees something in himself or in his possessions or in his brother that he wants, let him pray for blessings for it because the evil eye is real.’

Nathara

This comes from the evil eye of a Jinn.

Conclusion

To save a person from the evil that may try to access his/her shield, only Dhikr and duas we mentioned above can serve as a weapon for the one who believes. So, we should always Dhikr and use ruqyah, as mentioned by the beloved Prophet (PBUH), to protect us.
