Not only am I a proud cafe hopper, I have this quirky preference for doing my school work at cafe joints. The cozy and chilled atmosphere and playing of Jazz music somehow lifts my spirits and allows me to be more productive and complete my tasks in a more efficient manner. After school, I will scout for attractive new cafes to explore, and this ‘practise’ led me to stumble upon some rather unique eateries located in this little red dot.

In no particular order;

Knots Cafe and Living. Located in 160 Paya Lebar Road, #01–07. Source:http://knotscafeandliving.com/cafe/

With its’ interior filled with lush greenery and eccentric decor, the cafe gives off feelings of warmth and tranquillity that not only makes it a great reading environment, it is also a great place to catch up with friends over a cup of coffee or even brunch. Furthermore, it’s incredibly insta-worthy! As it is located in an industrial area, you wouldn’t expect too large of a crowd to gather during the non-peak hours and the weekends. So if you’re like me and dislikes the horde of people at Starbucks and Coffee Bean, head down to Knots Cafe and Living. I have to say they make one good babyccino!

Drury Lane Cafe. Located in 94 Tanjong Pagar Road. Source: http://blog.wearespaces.com/work-friendly-cafes-raffles-place-tanjong-pagar-cafe-rent-singapore/

If you walk along the streets of Tanjong Pagar, you will instantly notice a shop that’s painted in red. You can’t miss it. It’s literally the only shop in an eye-popping bright red colour that makes it stand out from the others. This is Drury Lane. While the interior is less than impressive, it makes up for its’ power sockets and free WiFi, which password is posted at the counter. The food and drinks are also affordably priced, with their Iced Chocolate costing less than $7. During the weekdays, the cafe serves as a quiet haven for individuals to work and study in.

d’Good Cafe. Located in 273 Holland Avenue, #02–01/02. Source: https://www.dgoodcafe.com

Due to its’ various unique themed interiors, the cafe is well-known among the hipster crowd and students alike. Not only do they offer a kids-themed room filled with stuffed animals and toys ( making it a suitable place for families to dine ), they also offer a romantic environment on the veranda if you prefer to get away from all the commotion, as long as you’re fine without air-conditioning. It may be rather difficult to locate the store at first since it is situated on the second and third floors, but it is simply beside Coffee Bean. If you see a flight of stairs, that is it! It is also worth mentioning that most of their food and drinks are freshly cooked and made to order.

The Bravery Cafe. Located in 66 Horne Road. Source: https://www.facebook.com/thebraverycafe/photos/a.218745274943647/599105846907586/?type=3&theater

The cafe seems to be rather popular with the nearby residents, which could explain the huge crowds even during the weekdays. Nonetheless, it is a sociable place that would instantly lifts your spirits due to the fun knick knacks hanging around. Their large tables also makes it convenient for doing work. What I find most interesting about this place is their unique menu options and attractive packaging. Their Lavender Cold Brew, though it may not be to everyone’s taste, is highly recommended by me.
