Jonas Ellison, you just articulated what I have always known and done! Although I spent my career as a graphic designer and art director, sometimes working on very creative projects, I still had to always have a project at home that was my soul work and that is what I called it, too!
My drawings, writing and music come from a completely different place in me than my work art and I had to express it. I still do. I don’t do it for money — I just must be creating from my deepest parts or I die a little every day.
Thank you for this wonderful piece, Jonas. So many people don’t realize that even when you have a day job, doing your soul work on the side gives you more energy, purpose and fulfillment. For me, it is a spiritual process to express the gifts I’ve been given in the most authentic way possible.
