Why Typography Matters — Especially At The Oscars

Thank you!!! As a former graphic designer and art director, I have bemoaned the lost art of typography for years, since the introduction of DIY typography with computers.

Don’t get me wrong — computers have revolutionized the industry in many ways for the better, making it possible to achieve complex designs and images that would have been too expensive with traditional printing and has made design and layout easier and faster in many ways.

But the loss of the art of great typography from great type houses that no longer exists, pains me to no end. And the sad thing is that most people today have no idea that there is any difference.
