Amen to that! 😉 (Did I highlight enough?!) I am lucky in that my family and friends don’t do that; just a few of my in laws do, and I don’t see them enough (nor think I could change them enough) to bother dealing with it.

But beyond the immediate issue, which is aggravating in its own right, people need to work on that empathy thing across the board and realize that differences still have validity. I was reading a Humans of New York post yesterday about a young black man being unfairly searched by a cop; HONY readers are usually pretty empathetic, but in this case many (white, of course) respondents not only doubted his story but didn’t seem to be aware that it’s a widespread problem! People need to get outside their own little heads and care about others’ realities.

And Marley? Your articles have been knocking it out of the park!
