Great question, but Yowza! I focused on black lit in grad school, with my fave being anything by Toni Morrison and my fave book of hers being Beloved (but all her books rock — seriously, all of them…even her worst is better than everyone else’s best!). I’m a big fan of anything by Virginia Woolf (especially Mrs. Dalloway), Isabelle Allende and Gabriel Garcia Marquez, too. John Gardner’s stuff is always a fun read. And our fabulous Tre Loadholt turned me onto Jamaica Kincaid, so that’s who I’m reading at the moment. I’m afraid I don’t read a ton of non-fiction.
