I absolutely agree that at the very least they should recognize their failures and apologize. Unfortunately, it’s hard to evolve in your 80’s and then add on that these guys have been treated like spoiled God-like figures for many years, and I don’t see it happening. And if we can’t get a jury to convict the Brock Turners of the world, I don’t see enough people being willing to take Hoffman or Freeman appropriately to task even during the height of #metoo. :-( I do think they know their actions were wrong, though; they just believe they’re above it all.
More importantly, I am glad that you’re working through your own demons! Justice is important, but to me at least the real power of #metoo is giving victims their voices back and helping them to be heard. I hope someday you’re at peace.
