An eerie calm in Bangladesh

I’d read about this elsewhere and was saddened, but your use of “silence” and “calm” is palpable. Here in the US it is perhaps less quiet, but I fear no less for my LGBT friends. We’ve made great strides in supporting them on a national level — indeed, across the first world — but as is generally the case with forward movement, there is painful backlash. Indeed, the pace of change (dare I say progress?) in so many areas is so swift these days that the response from fundamentalists / traditionalists / evangelicals / etc. is more violent and deadly than ever.
