Not a poet?! Hahahahahahahahaaaaa!!! Seriously, Sam, that was beautiful, both technically and in the heart of your content.

I believe we’d call this a prose poem. Do you know Joel Leon.’s work? Unfortunately he hasn’t published here in quite awhile, but he is a master of prose poetry; take a look and you’ll see similarities with your stuff.

And, yeah, your content — I guess my patriotism is colored too! I suppose most countries have their issues, but we sure have our share. And some of these variances like “many flavors” and “foreign cultures,” as you put them, are not just differences in people’s patriotism but to me are literally what makes America great.

An election won’t be enough. November won’t fix America’s “patriotism problem.” If so many people bought the part about honoring our flag and our song and our pledge, how did they miss the lessons about the melting pot or the words on the Statue of Liberty? Shame on them.
