The Height of Cheesiness

In response to alto’s Cheesy 70’s Tuesday Quotable

Oh my, alto, you had to go there: perhaps the cheesiest decade on record (pun intended), and during my teen years — the cheesiest period of my life. When even Lucky Charms, feathered hair, Mustangs, roller rinks, and glittery disco balls somehow managed to tug at my newly awakened heart strings and make me tear up. I was, I admit, the world’s crappiest girlfriend back in the day, skipping ruthlessly from one guy to the next, and yet I somehow still felt so fucking earnest about each of them for a moment or two.

It should come as no surprise then, that your words would invoke the many glorious ballads of Bread. If I only had a penny for every time my BFF and I sat in her dimly lit basement crooning Bread songs and bawling our eyes out, I could possibly trump Trump’s bank account. They gave us so much to work with, but here I think I’ll go with Everything I Own:

Is there someone you know
You’re loving them so
But taking them all for granted
You may lose them one day
Someone takes them away
And they don’t hear the words you long to say
I would give anything I own
Give up my life, my heart, my home
I would give everything I own
Just to have you back again
Just to touch you once again
One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
