Ugh — so sorry, Mandela! I know so many white people grieving for you, and so many of them in tech. Many of them are writing, protesting, voting to make the world a fairer place and arguing with their racist white friends, but I can also imagine them getting tongue-tied at your loss in the same way that people clam up at miscarriages, the loss of a loved one, etc. It’s definitely not the best way to handle it, but do know that at least a chunk of your coworkers are feeling your pain and aren’t just callously ignorant. I’m sure that doesn’t make you feel less alone, though, so I pledge to help spread the word.
