Facing your Fear of Failure

There is a quote that,

The ‘amazing’ can only be created by facing ‘fear’, ‘risk’ ‘Failure’ during the process.

There is another quote of Thomas Edison in which he says:

Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.

This activity was to promote a project which is socially related. It is to acknowledge you that efforts were underway to organize Sports Gala 16 in Sultan Mehmood Ghaznavi Hal, UET Lahore. It was to be started on 26th April, 2016 and is going to end on 28th April, 2016. I chose different spots for promotion of this social event, mostly the entrances of the hostel and the library. I incorporated info desks in these two places with my team of 10 members and achieved almost 250 person target. There were 15 gaming modules.

We displayed posters on notice board of every hostel and also printed out 25 flexes of small size as well as 2 flexes of 10*20 ft. It was meant to be the greatest sports activity at the hostel level. As sports committee member I distributed my team in different small groups including design, publicity, volunteers for each game etc.

We had to convince every passerby to participate in this event and the worst which could happen was that the second person may refuse to take part in any of the module. Thomas Edison failed for almost 10,000 times before inventing bulb. And he said that I found out the 10,000 ways which won’t work. That is what failure teaches, it teaches us to identify other ways which lead to success. We should not be afraid of failure in starting anything new, we should just start and let the work teach us. We have a lot of other examples as well who failed but didn’t lost hope and at the end they were the hero of the Public. For example Mr. Imran Khan, Steve Jobs etc.

I was afraid all the time that would I be able to achieve my target of registering 200 students as we already invested a lot of capital In publicity then we had to arrange sound system as well as sports equipment etc but my team was passionate and committed to our target. I called the meeting of team on previous Friday and we calculated all the statistics and according to that we needed 200 plus participant in our event. It was not as difficult as I anticipated and Alhamdulilah we succeeded in our goal. It is happening now and going to end on 28th April. I would like to conclude with one last takeaway that no matters what comes in your way just continue to follow your own path and face the challenge because, challenge is what, teaches you how to behave under pressure and how to solve the problem, you are facing. In fact it is the practical of what we are studying in Amal Academy.
