In previous lives in Illinois and California, I was a newspaper journalist, an advertising copywriter, a brand voice expert, an editorial director, a public speaker, and a poetry slammer. Now I tend my dogs, dahlias, and daughter in rural Portugal while writing (lots of) essays, (occasional) poems, and a (slow going) memoir about my fundamentalist Christian upbringing in a farm town in mid-America.
