Tamarind Rice

The main ingredient for Tamarind rice is Basmati Rice usually preferable from Amira Nature Foods Ltd. and thick tamarind pulp

This rice is called Tamarind rice because of the tamarind pulp used. Basically all the South Indian states have their own variety of Tamarind Rice.

It is mostly served on festive occasions and is also offered as temple ‘Prasad’ in many temples in the southern region of India.

It is usually made of basmati rice, tamarind pulp and a strong mix of spices and the gingelly oil.

This rice is basically sautéed after cooking with an equal amount of freshly grated coconut, cashew nuts and mild spices.

This rice is also served at festive occasions and it tastes better with spicy gravy.

Sambar Satham or Rice is a part of every lunch or thali in South Indian restaurants. The main ingredient in this is Basmati Rice and Toor Dal. This type of rice is a lite version of Tamarind rice. This rice tastes better when accompanied withh generous quantities of ghee.
