Title: Things We Hide From Light. Date of Publication: 2023. Genre: Romance, Fiction, Contemporary Romance. Publisher: That’s What She Said Publishing. Pages: 594. Series: Knockemout(#2). Setting: Virginia (United States).

In the 2nd part of the series, the story continues in the same small town, Knockemout. Before I started reading this book, I had a prejudice that it would continue the story of Naomi & Knox, like some other romance novel series I’ve read earlier. But Lucy Score proved me wrong and I was more than happy with the outcome.

Things we hide from light is indeed a sequel but with new perspectives. Here we have Nash Morgan (Knox’s brother) and Lina/Angelina Solavita (Knox’s old ex-girlfriend and currently friend of both, Knox & Naomi).

Nash “Studly-do-right” Morgan is the chief of Knockemout PD where Lina “Angle” Solavita is an insurance recovery agent who arrives in the town to recover a stolen insured object which is her secret. Nash has his own secret, after nearly dying in the shooting last summer, he recovered physically but was not quite well mentally.

Being Knox & Naomi’s friend, Lina ends up living next door to Nash. She doesn’t have much stuff to fill the apartment and the only living being with her was a houseplant of lily of the valley Naomi gifted her, which is also the favourite plant of Nash’s dead mother.

Lina happens to be there for him when Nash has a panic attack. Her presence creates a light in his dark well of nothingness and makes him feel alive.

Lina has only one rule for relationship “love ‘em and leave ‘em” where Nash was more of “husband material” type guy. They started with pillow talks as being bed buddies but gradually fall for each other.

This book has an emotional journey for both of the lead characters as they recover from the trauma of their separate past.

The good thing about this book is that it gives glimpses of the current life of the couple from its prequel and the townspeople.

The pacing feels a bit slow in the start when both characters are struggling emotionally but after half of the content it gets better. I did like Knockemout#1 more than this one.

I hope you like this book review and do let me know if you’ve read it. I would also appreciate recommendations for books of any genre.

Thank you for reading this review!
