As a child, we were all fascinated by bicycles. When we think about the cycles, the memories associated with it comes first to our mind. The first time, our father taught us to balance the cycle. the time we spent roaming with friends renting a bicycle, puncturing it, etc. I have a memory of even blasting the tyre many times and standing before the shopkeeper with an innocent face. We grew up with the cycle as if we were siblings. I had many happy school days with him. Others could have had a wonderful love story carried together. I have never had one — lol.

In this series of stories, I am going to portray the bond I had with my childhood bicycle. How it traveled with me from school to college, then college to work, and even after I am married.

Just guess how old it is!!. Yes, you guessed it right, it is 13 years as on the date this story was written.

Renewed and repainted version of my cycle. After his rebirth in 2021 during the corona lockdown period, I even named him “தூரிகைத் தென்றல்” meaning “breeze from the brush”.

Recently, my wife gifted me a new geared bicycle on my birthday which I had been longing for a long time. But, still I have my first one. I will be introducing a new tag “Green KMs”. It captures the km I traveled up-to-date, up to my knowledge.

Stay tuned for more wonderful stories to come.

Green KMs — 1500 Kms

Let’s travel together on the two wheels!!!
