My Best Self in 2016: A Totally Achievable List of Goals

“Sometimes I think that the reason I’m here is so I can spend hours by myself in my apartment drafting my novel, as if I created my own long-term writing residency simply by moving to a city known for its introversion.”

I’m curious to know how this works out for you. After 13 years in Seattle, I think people are only as introverted as you yourself are; that it’s much worse in the winter and particularly a dark winter like this last one; and that sometimes the big dreams/goals get deferred because it’s just too exhausting creating for pleasure after writing/editing all day long for work, and especially if you’re freelancing. I did it for 6 years and am so happy to be in a 9–5 now, with a clear endpoint for the day, and reading books again at night. I salute your mighty hustle and I look fwd to checking up on your 2016 goal progress.
