“This assignment is already late and the teacher doesn’t give credit for late work, so there’s no sense in doing it.”
“We can’t wait until this school year is over.”
“School sucks.”
I hear things like this all the time. It’s simply not necessary for us to create educational experiences that affect people like this, that create these frames, that are counterproductive. The fact is that there are COUNTLESS ways to do “education” right, and in my experience, it’s all about “engagement”. Whatever is engaging gets the attention. Good education designs learning experiences that engage the learner. Good education creates experiences of success. Good education feels good.
