Search for Happiness

“Happiness depends more on the inward disposition of mind than on outward circumstances.” ― Benjamin Franklin

All the emotions, perceptions, thoughts and ideas together in a bunch enable us to build a pathway leading to a particular destination in life. Everything we experience throughout the course of our life is unique to us, since our perception is what is shaping our reality. Expectation is what lies at the root of all heartache. Why? Because we falsely assumed someone’s behavior would match our expectations. What happens when we realize the complete and utter error of our ways? We grow increasingly upset because we cannot wrap our mind around why someone would behave in this manner. That’s because we could never do something like that, so it’s difficult to understand the reasoning behind someone else’s actions.

We can do things that will make us happy in the sense by gauging a situation. If circumstances will upset us in any way, then we need to avoid them; actively realize what brings us joy and what brings us sadness. This is a way to ensure a happy existence. There is virtually no simpler way to recognize this. Something either brings us pain or pleasure and the things that bring us pleasure are what we should dedicate our time to.

We have to realize that there is no particular place or person that will distribute happiness and the only work we do is to gather it without any pain. This is not how life works. Willingness is what makes a person achieve all that they have wished for. Sometimes, even immensely minute things make us happy while there our times where even the most significant bits in life mean nothing to us. For Example, when we look into the past we will realize that as kids’ even materials like toys and stamps made our eyes gleam with pleasure while now the level for happiness has seen a rise and therefore, things like these mean nothing to us.

We ought to learn to depend on ourselves rather than others to bring us fulfillment. Only once we are happy on our own, can we hope to share our happiness with others. If we don’t, our unhappiness will resurface and manifest itself in destructive ways. We cannot hope to have any sort of successful relationship, whether it’s in the platonic sense, romantic sense or business sense. The most important step is to become comfortable with ourselves so that every phase in life becomes a period of joy and happiness.

“It’s up to you to be responsible for how you feel if you’re not happy. Your happiness lies in your hands. You can’t rely on a man to make you happy or complete you. That starts with you” –Taraji P. Henson
