touchpad gestures up to 2 fingers will work fine on linux. but I wasn’t able to enable 3 finger gestures, in particular, using 3 fingers to move a window.

sure, those notebooks support high resolutions. but the software, the windowing system of linux don’t handle them well. This is not about the hardware, it’s about the software. On mac and windows, most applications use the os provided way to render text. the os provided text rendering apis know how to scale those text, and use the extra pixels to provide better quality. On linux, you have multiple choices when rendering a window. it’s not guaranteed that the text will look good on a retina display.

I use ubuntu on thinkpad.
