One downside of the suggested solution is that it requires a lot of space to spread in. 
In cases where space is limited, I’d suggest this structure. That way employees are still aware of their team mates and have free space around them, they can easily pair with someone and allow free access in the room.

You can still group 2 or 4 tables and have some space between them if needed.
