Cryptoassets is a good generic term. Token is too needy and excludes the broader public. Tokens are really more like options — they’re not worth much but their value increases as the protocol or project succeeds. On the other hand, they’re not like options because you already own them, whereas options a right to purchase.
Restricted Stock Options (RSU) are, I think, the closest comparison: you already own them; they have value; value goes up or down depending on the market.
Exciting new world to be sure.
