One Piece: Why Captain Smoker’s Return Will Be Significant
Smoker formerly known as Vice-Admiral Smoker. Is one of the most well known characters in One-Piece’s story.
Introduced early on the story, at the Loguetown arc. Captain Smoker is both a rival and a comrade of protagonist Monkey D. Luffy.
The two have consistently fought and partnered up with each other. Resulting in this frenemy type of relationship.
With this being said, Smoker has not been present in the story since the Punk Hazard arc. This article delves into where Smoker is currently is, and why his return is important.
Ally For The Final War:
The recent chapters of One-Piece highlight how deep into the story we are.
The tension between the World Goverment, and the rest of the world is growing. This tension will inevitably result in the “final war”. The final battle for freedom, which will see pirates fight against the world government or any other evil.
We as fans understand that Smoker is a not a slave to the World Goverments regime. He questions his superiors decsions, deciding to follow his own sense of justice instead.
I’ve got a feeling that Smoker will be one the Marines who revolts against the World Goverment’s order. Eventually coming to the realisation that the World Goverments authority, follows an incorrect philosophy of justice.
If Smoker serves this role in the future of the story, then his return of great importance.
Smoker Will Become Stronger
I think I speak for everyone, when I say that we want Smoker to become a stronger character. Initially a prominent fighter pre-timeskip, Smoker has struggled in the New World. With an embarrassing display in the Punk Hazard arc.
I believe that Smoker and Luffy, will replicate the Garp and Roger relationship. A marine, and a pirate, who both respect each other, but also rival against each other.
In order for Smoker to match Luffy’s current power level, an a significant increase in strength is needed.
Awakened Logia Devil Fruits, have not been shown in the story as of yet.
Perhaps Smoker will be one of the first characters, to demonstrate the terrifying ability of an awakened Logia Devil Fruit.
