What are the best clubs and parties to be at in London, for New Year’s Eve 2016?
Many of the events we featured are centred around the promotion or brand, as opposed to having a large lineup of DJs and/or MCs. This provides improved value for money and the cash saved can fund additional Ciroc. The recommendations we present are largely aimed at 20–30’s with a bit of flair.
Best events for NYE, largely Garage, Hip Hop/RnB & most House music genres and vaguely listed with the best value at the top (they are all good though!)
Supa Dupa Fly x NYE
Bloomsbury Lanes, Russell Square
Notable features: (Act) Oxide & Neutrino + (Extras) Bowling, Hiphop, RnB Karaoke, Games, Ray’s Pizza & Diner
£20 tickets http://bit.ly/2gPdThe FB page - http://bit.ly/2fIVOWc
Supa Dupa Fly is a strong brand who regularly put on really good Hip Hop nights in Shoreditch and other locations. Oxide and Neutrino are a Garage duo who were popular in the 00’s and the venue also has bowling lanes and games. There is so much to do in one night — not to mention it has a pizza joint. At £20 it’s an absolute bargain and look out for some of the Sho team if you get tickets for this.
Building Six O2, North Greenwich
Notable acts: MC Majestic, Big Brovaz, Blazin’ Squad
£38 tickets - http://bit.ly/2gCuKo9 FB page - https://goo.gl/jsLH84
Kisstory is a popular UK radio station which plays old school (from the slick and sexy 90s-00s era) Garage, House, RnB & Hip Hop. The acts are nearly vintage, with the large exception of MC Majestic, so this will likely have a slightly older than average crowd (25–33). The venue is also quite new and massive, it can host 3000 people over 3 floors. Perfect for getting lost or running away.
Fatman Scoop @ Rooftop Party
Big Apple, Brixton
£12 tickets - http://bit.ly/2gCz07a FB page - http://bit.ly/2gCz07a
Fatman Scoop is a larger than life New York DJ/Promoter who is fat and full of energy. We know this will be a serious party because of the unique venue mixed in with the NYE occasion — one of the most legit reasons to go hard.
His hit tune— Be Faithful ft Faith Evans would also make a very nice 12am tune to bring in the New Year.
TwiceasNice presents Sexy&Stylish
Spearmint Rhino, Tottenham Court Rd
Notable acts: Ramsey & Fen (Old School Garage)
£16 tickets - http://bit.ly/2gYDSaj FB Page - http://bit.ly/2gtrG0C
Because this event is at a strip club some may say it’s controversial or tacky. Which is probably true to an extent. But TwiceasNice is an authentic Garage promotions, born in 1992 and still going. And a strip club concept takes a page from the US, where the culture is the standard. At £16 it’s also quite affordable to get in, although the drink prices are more in line with the city’s high price (e.g. a deal 1 is £300 for 2 bottles of Rose Champange, 1 bottle of spirit (likely 175ml) and some mixers.
Recommendations from The Standard’s list
They compiled their own list and we think these three events are good ones to consider:
- 21. Afro Disco at the Book Club, Shoreditch
Afro beats and afro disco music, with the venue covered in a rainforest, with vines, tropical birds and palm trees
- 19. Turnt Party at The Driver, Kings Cross
a 5 floor venue with a roof terrace playing mash-ups of RnB/Hip Hop/Old School/House. Plus free pizza at 3am
- 21. Eastern Electrics NY:EE @ Studio Spaces, Shadwell
a big line up of Deep/Tech House DJs, headed by Richy Ahmed and Darius Syrossian at Eastern Electrics, who run a yearly summer festival in or near London.
