How to turn your videos into shoppable opportunities without leaving your app

The video space is growing at an unprecedented rate as audiences are more influenced by stories and visuals than by the static world of today. One of the issues with this new video-based world, however, is the challenge of monetizing content in a strong and effective way that is not cumbersome to the end audience. On the other hand, a big challenge for retail, fashion, and luxury brands is how to make their social marketing more effective and, more specifically, how to make celebrity/product placement worth the spend. This is where we at Diddo come in. Diddo offers vast e-commerce potential on that content, with the added benefit of fostering engagement and building brand loyalty with much wider, otherwise missed, audiences.

We have recently unlocked this ability for the Mux ecosystem as well — Mux gives companies the tools to build video in their existing products, and Diddo enables these videos to become instantly shoppable without any extra work from the video owners. Viewers typically come to streaming platforms for entertainment and content consumption, but in recent years, these shows have become a major influence on macro purchasing trends — see Succession and the quiet luxury movement, for example. Introducing a shopping element through our model allows streaming companies to smoothly and seamlessly engage their customers while staying true to their existing user experience and opening up new revenue streams.

On top of that, through a joint solution, we’ve made it even easier for video owners to incorporate Diddo within their workflows. Mux empowers businesses with the tools to build great video experiences — users can launch video features in days, customize the player experience, and monitor video streaming performance, all while scaling seamlessly to the world’s largest audiences. Diddo further eases the hardships for video owners on the monetization side which enables them to focus on what they do best — creating amazing content! We have built our solution with Mux’s open-source project Media Chrome in mind — there is no extra work placed on your plate. Our API integrates with Mux and enables us to surface the metadata of what we found on your stream and enable them to become natively shoppable. We allow full flexibility and ability to choose and create any sort of shopping experience you can think of, allowing you to stay true to your creative vision for your company. We do the hard and dirty parts of the shopping and computer vision workflows so you can create the best experience for your audience.

Let’s use an episode of the wildly popular “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” as a way to demonstrate the effectiveness of Diddo.

In the post, we’ll demonstrate how Diddo works to promote products and encourage purchase while delighting TV viewers at the same time.

Here we are, in front of our TV, watching our favorite show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians:

(which, by the way, has a rating of “outstanding” from Parrot Analytics, which found that the audience demand for Keeping Up With The Kardashians is 20.7 times the demand of the average TV series in the United States in the last 30 days. Only 2.7% of all shows in this market have this level of demand. If you’re a fashion brand, this is exactly where you want to be, and you want TV viewers to be able to purchase your products!)

While watching, there were a few things that caught our eye…Diddo makes it easy to shop without having to change screens or apps.

What were we looking for? Oh, yes, the amazing shirt Kim is wearing! That’s the one…

Hmmm. We really want that shirt, but that’s (more than) a little out of our budget range. What if we want something very similar without a Kardashian income? (In addition to shopping comparables, viewers can also filter by their favorite characters.)

That’s exactly what we wanted! We can pay for it within the same experience:

And we’re good to go. Now we can go back to watching TV…or more shopping!

Alright — at this point you’re probably asking yourself how to get started. We have some exciting news for you–it’s extremely easy, especially for any individual using Mux’s open-source project Media Chrome, to incorporate video within their ecosystem! Our solution works with Media Chrome to process your videos without any extra work on your side. We surface the metadata of what we found on your stream and enable them to become natively shoppable. As with all APIs, you can choose and create any sort of shopping user experience you can think of, allowing you to stay true to your creative vision for your company. We do the hard and dirty parts of the shopping and computer vision workflows so you can create the best experience for your audience.

Diddo brings shopping capability to video on all screens that’s more comprehensive than all other solutions in the market. We offer an AI-driven, end-to-end solution for shoppable TV without QR codes or second screens, enabling a seamless e-commerce experience for audiences everywhere.

The way people interact with culture and commerce is changing; brands are seeing it, companies are seeing it, and the world is seeing it. We at Diddo have built the rails for the next evolution of commerce and culture and cannot wait to enable companies to finally deliver the promise of shoppable video. Let’s build the future of video commerce together!
