The Progression Of Stephen Curry

In this piece I’m going to talk about the journey of a young kid from Davidson College who was said wasn’t going to impact an NBA team or that he was “too short”.

Rookie Year Stephen Curry

The year Golden State selected Stephen Curry with the ninth pick of the 2009 draft, they were in a rebuilding phase with Monta Ellis as their franchise player. With Stephen Curry joining him in the backcourt it was sure going to be exciting to see both the great performances that Ellis puts on for the Bay Area fans and the progression of Curry who was known for his great perimeter shooting performances in college.

Golden State didn’t know Curry would be as elite as he is right now in the present though which is why Ellis was mostly the #1 option on offense for the Warriors. Curry would still prove to be a great piece to the offense as he averaged 17.5 points per game grabbed 4.5 rebounds per game and dished out short but close to 6 assists per game while shooting 46 percent from the field 43 from three and 88 from the free throw line. Now we all know Steph is the best shooter of all time but during this time he was just a different breed because there are only a few players in NBA history who attempted as many 3s as he has and…
