Dave, your statement is factually bogus. As I stated in the piece, if you are a family of four living in Manhattan the poverty line starts at $5500 a month, which means she and her family are already 27% below the poverty line. Additionally, I’m not sure if you’re aware of the geography of New York but North Harlem to Downtown is already an hour commute. Further, as the research shows (which I included in this article) those in poverty simply don’t have the means to quickly mobilize and scavenge for a more financially stable lifestyle. From your comment, it seems you either didn’t fully read or comprehend my work. Which is unfortunate.
