As part of WITx activity under the theme #Connect, the participants were supposed to watch an interview conducted by the WIT Cohort 1 participants. All the Cohort 1 participants had interviewed previous winners of opportunity. It was hard to select one out of them all. I went forward with the interview of Jigyasa Grover conducted by Dhanya Sreekumar.

Jigyasa Grover is the Facebook Grace Hopper Scholar 2017 and also the winner of Red Hat Women in Open Source Academic Awards 2017.

The interview was conducted in a neat, professional way. Dhanya asked the questions which almost everyone is curious about. How did she, Jigyasa stumble upon the opportunities, how did she reach the position that she has secured now, her journey etc.

The one question that I loved personally was when the interviewer asked whether she could compare the condition for women in technologies in California to that in India. This was something I always was curious about. Were they actually far more advanced than the women in India, is the competition tougher there than here and such. I was shocked to know that there isn’t much of a difference and that we are on a pace that is going up both in California and in India.

It was amazing to hear the journey of Jigyasa Grover. It left me with an idea of how things actually is, inspired and an feeling if you want it, you could do it. To sum it up, it was neat, clean interview which gives us all the basic required information. I really liked the interview, it clarified lots of doubts I have had. Thank you WITx for this opportunity!
