From One Generation to Another
“One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts. On the glorious splendor of your majesty, and on your wondrous works, I will meditate. They shall speak of the might of your awesome deeds, and I will declare your greatness. They shall pour forth the fame of your abundant goodness and shall sing aloud of your righteousness.” (Psalm 145:4–7 ESV)
What are Christians all about? What are we suppose to accomplish as believers? The spread of the glorious gospel of Jesus, his splendor and greatness. From one generation to another.
This is the passing on of testimony. Telling those that follow us what God has done for us. But it is not only valuable to the generation coming up, it is of significant worth to us as well. To be reminded of God’s goodness and the wonders he has worked in our lives, that we would see his glory and live toward it, longing for more of Jesus and his abundant goodness.
Today you have the opportunity to do two things. First, remember what Jesus has done for you. Think upon the specific ways God has works wondrously in your life. The provision. The faithfulness. The grace. From that worshipful remembering; secondly, tell others about it. Find someone with less experience with the Lord and let them know how God has moved on your behalf. Let them know how God has moved on their behalf!
Let us together pour forth the fame of his goodness and let us sing of his righteousness, that others may hear and know this Savior Jesus.
