Held to Hold Others
“But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end.” (Hebrews 3:13–14 ESV)
Consider Jesus. This is the call of Hebrews 3. Think upon, pursue, embrace Jesus the Lord and your Savior. All of life comes as you and in it all you consider Jesus. This is actually how you remain or abide in him… to consider him at each and every opportunity.
None that consider Jesus will fall away. And as those that believe in Jesus we know we will not fall away because ultimately it is he who holds us. We have faith, experience grace and live new lives because of Jesus, his choice of us, his work accomplished on the cross, his resurrection for us and his glory. This is the glue that sticks us to him, and we consider it as we walk through our days.
Truth is, that the news gets better, or greater. We, those who are held by Jesus, are meant to hold others. To call others to remember, to consider Jesus. We exhort, encourage, speak, rally one another every day. Sure we do it in a large gathering on Sundays, but we are purposed to do it as long as it is called today. Connected, regular, interactions with other believers that none of us would be deceived by our sin, but turn yet again to Christ.
You are not meant to live this alone. Jesus has claimed and secured you to be with others. To hear the gospel and proclaim it. To challenge and comfort. To fight the good fight, shoulder to shoulder.
Today, know you are held by Jesus. Consider him. And in doing that, go to the “one another” of your life and remind them too. As long as it is called today.
