Hundredfold

“And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands, for my name’s sake, will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal life.” (Matthew 19:29 ESV)

I used to think I would be rich. If I just followed the right steps then voila… blessing and raining money. I don’t think I even called it prosperity gospel but it certainly was and who doesn’t want that “type” of blessing?!

The thing is, Jesus does make you rich, in him, with an inheritance of life, real, lasting, eternal life. This answer comes from the question from his disciples as to what they can expect after his kingdom comes in, they rule on thrones and everyone else that has believed in Jesus, even to their peril of lost friends and family, to the uncertainty, those that take the blows for his name sake will be rewarded with him.

New family, new purpose, new provision all for the glory of Christ and all because of Christ.

Today we will have a number of choices of things and people over the name of Christ, but we are encouraged and empowered by the Spirit to be steadfast in embracing our Savior. Jesus, help us do what you have planned and purposed us to do for your name sake. Give us a vision of the inheritance and life that we receive in you. Be bigger to us that we would live toward you. Amen.
