The Kind Life
“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” (Ephesians 4:32 ESV)
Invited into a whole new life, we believe in Christ, are given his righteousness and his Spirit and we are kind to one another. So much in our day would be solved if there was kindness. Relationships would heal. Politics would enlighten. Social media would be among the greatest of encouragements! Things would be so different.
In Jesus, this is exactly the difference we are told is ours. Because of his work for us on the cross, his eternal kindness toward those that could never deserve it, we now reflect that kindness toward those in the household of faith and beyond. We are softer to one another. We are quick to forgive when wronged. All motivated by the forgiveness we have in Christ.
This is not about earning something. We are not kind to manipulate the other or to receive a prize at the end of it. We are kind because in his loving kindness Jesus died for us. He invites us into his resurrection life and secures our eternity with him.
Nothing is in jeopardy with Jesus. Because of that truth, we can be kind to one another. Today, let’s be kind.
