Like a plastic bag in the storm, in the storm of misery, lawlessness and apathy humanity moves like a lost cause. Drifting place to place following a faint glimmer of hope that someday, we who created this word will finally inculcate in ourselves. We have ways to divide ourselves but we have that one way that binds us together. This thin thread of humanity which is common in all hierarchies of animals. It unites us as one, but we are so busy dividing ourselves that we forget that this binding source does exist.
I believe that Humanity is the ultimate religion and we are humans first, then we are the followers of our respective faiths. We have certainly perceived it the other way round. In order to support my perceptions I quote some of the lines from the very famous sonnet of John Milton, "On His Blindness" which is:
"My true account, lest he returning chide,
"Doth God exact day-labour, light denied?"
I fondly ask. But Patience, to prevent
That murmur, soon replies: "God doth not need
Either man’s work or his own gifts: who best
Bear his mild yoke, they serve him best. "
My perception translates this portion of fine poetry as: The speaker asks God that how blind people or referred here as light-denied suppose to serve God when they cannot give the gifts of physical labour to Him, then Patience here personified says that God is complete without the gifts given to Him, He is the true depiction of perfection, He has servants who serve Him and all that He expects from us is our submission to Him and our service to our own kind.
If we analyze the current scenario, we are killing our ownselves, which is like cutting the very branch,we are sitting on. These killings, mishappenings personifies foolishness and blinded judgement and doing it in the name of the Almighty is like blaming a witness for the crime rather than the criminal. Afterlife may be a myth, and punishments we get in afterlife may also be a myth but of all the religions in the world, None of it says that Heaven awaits for those who kill. Humanity doesn’t demand hard rituals or ostentatious drama just helping the ones who need help, helping each other grow. It does not guarantee that there will be absolutely no problems, but you won’t be alone while facing it. Humanity is just a mindset, where we leave our self made identities behind and follow the one which we were born with where we can all be one regardless of our color, race, caste, Creed or any of the words which divide us. It is not very demanding to learn to respect people for their respective perceptions.
Terrorists are humans, and this fact is the saddest fact in the entire universe! We instantly kill the animal which becomes rogue or becomes threat to humans, but what about the animals which live within us.
According to the Chinese mythology, Ying-Yang deduces that there is both good and bad in every being, to understand this we may imagine that there are two wolves inside us - one which is related to all the good things we do, it is the better version of us, it does not create any harm and second there is a wolf which is diametrically opposite it is on the side which harms people, hurts them, judge them and all the bad things, the brain feeds them on the basis of their likings, the good one eats everything positive and negative feed goes to the other wolf, it depends on our perception that solely determines which feed is being generated and which wolf we feed! Now we don’t need powerful verses, we need kind words , we don’t need laws, we need understanding to make this world a better place ; quoting Martin Luther King Jr., “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
The world we live in where people cannot be trusted, no one is safe, the danger of getting killed because you are removing the mask and simply being what you are, this is what we wish to give our future generations? Have we really evolved or we are going towards the our own extinction?
The most wonderful thing we have at the end of this Pandora’s box is Hope. Let’s unite to make this world a better place. Let’s keep humanity alive!
