Forced marriages are quite common in India and bride is such cases will be under 12. There are strict laws,but no avail. There needs to be awareness among the people about such things. Girl child is often frowned upon and is considered burden even today. Patriarchy is so deeply rooted in the society that there is no scope for female voice. Honour killings in the name of caste are quite common news here. Unless and until strong steps are taken worldwide,I don’t think situation will improve.
