I hear ya a little. I majored in journalism and had to go work in dot-com land because writing wasn’t going to pay off my student loans. But also understand that from a storytelling standpoint — annoying plot points aside — there’s a point where too much realism makes a story boring. It’s the Rory Gilmore story, not Lauren Parker’s #StruggleIsReal.
Plus it went unsaid but we could — and should — assume that Rory is a trust fund baby so while the show romanticized a writer’s life — like many, many other shows and films do — it’s not unrealistic for her to be able to afford a writer’s life.
